Daily Program & Itinerary
Pick-up from your hotel or cruise ship and begin our departure from Athens heading North for our first visit to the village of Arachova. Time given for souvenir shopping along the picturesque main street and stops for photos of the panoramic views over the Olive Groves. Leaving Arachova we continue to the site of Delphi, home to the Delphi Oracle who influenced and advised in ancient times on all levels of political or private affairs. At the site of Delphi you can see the Temple of Apollo, the ancient stadium, the gymnasium and of course the Tholos at the sanctuary of Athena Pronaia. A stop in Delphi village for lunch before continuing on to Kalambaka for our overnight stay.
After breakfast we make our way towards the gigantic rock formations perched above the village of Kalambaka and housing the Meteora Monasteries. Impressive, serene, magical, inspirational, breathtaking, mystical, spiritual are some of the words used to describe the Meteora phenomenon. Before leaving Kalambaka we will visit a local Icon workshop to see how the Icons are painted and made. After lunch, time to relax on the coach while we journey back to Athens. En-route we will stop at the memorial of the Spartan King Leonidas who led the Greeks in battle against the Persian Empire of Xerxes at the battle of Thermopylae. We continue our journey to Athens and drop off at your requested location.
